I’d been going to Sentidos Tapas from the days before it was part of the Feast Village of Starhill Gallery. I used to go for their bread and butter pudding (one of the best I’d had), paella and some pretty good Sangria – generous portions, full tasting and with decent wine that packed a punch. A visit for sangria and bread and butter pudding about 3 years ago ago however revealed that quality was not as good as I remembered it from days of yore. I did remember that their savouries were still good.

I’d known they were owned by the people who owned Flamenco’s. The giveaway was the bread and butter pudding. I’d tasted it once at Flamenco’s and when I had it at Sentidos I knew it was the same. Asking around confirmed it. Background story is important here. Many a family celebration had taken place at Sentidos Tapas, Starhill over the years.

However, after a recent episode at Sentidos Tapas I’m boycotting the place for two reasons – a rude run in with someone proclaiming to be the owner and food quality and portions that are not commensurate with price.

I’d offered to buy dinner for a friend’s birthday and there was a group of us for dinner. Friend suggested Sentidos Tapas and as it had been a while since we’d been, we thought it might be good to revisit. We had placed our orders and food was served in a timely fashion. I was of course with my camera – mostly for photo practise. I wasn’t planning to blog at all. Naturally all that changed as you will see.

badaya korean restaurant

I went hunting for Badaya Korean Restaurant because a friend tweeted a picture of her having sashimi served on blocks of jade. I had to try that! Unfortunately, when I saw the menu, it turned out that it must have been the large assorted sashimi dish (RM300). So I will have to try that another day. Instead here’s what I had.

Salmon Sashimi (RM40)

The Salmon sashimi was fresh and sweet and very tasty. I was surprised to be served about 12 slices of salmon. In many good Japanese restaurants for that price, you’d get about 6-7 slices if you’re lucky. I also liked that the wasabi is fresh grated wasabi which is more flavoursome and less pungent than the regular powdered versions.

If you are following this blog, thank you for your patience during this feast or famine updates :P

A friend of mine bought a Dealmate voucher for “Sang Har Meen” (Freshwater prawn noodles) at Four Seas Chinese Restaurant in Bangsar. This is the second time we are using a group deal food voucher and thus far (fingers crossed) its been a decent enough experience. The voucher was RM38 for a plate of “Sang Har Meen” for 2 persons with a pot of tea. Fair enough price for this dish which is usually extremely expensive anyway.

Four Seas Chinese Restaurant is at Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar and it was my first time there.

For the tea, we had choice of all the teas available. Naturally, friend ordered the “Tea King” or “Char Wong” which is usually very expensive tea :P
