A friend took me to the famous Woo Pin Cheras Flats Fish Head Noodles and I can’t get enough of them ever since. Located at the bottom of some flats near Cheras, Kuala Lumpur this “yu tau mai” stall is a not so closely guarded secret because the place is packed most afternoons and even more so on weekends.

What I like is the fact they give you nice big chunks of meaty fish. You can opt for a few variations of the noodle and fish combination, but I usually opt for this one – fried fish noodle in clear soup.
My friend had the regular fried fish noodle soup with milk. They add in evaporated milk so the soup is milky and the taste is a little different too. Their fish paste (yu wat) is quite good – springy with a nice fishy flavour.

The soup is delicious – cooked with salted vegetable, tomatoes and ginger, it is flavoursome and whets the appetite. The dash of chinese rice wine too brings out the flavour of the sour and tangy soup served with broad rice vermicelli (bee hoon) and chunks of fish.
I usually go for the small bowl (RM7) which is very large by comparison outside. On average, you get between 3-4 meaty chunks of fish for the normal fish head noodle. I took my parents here one weekend and they too were suitably impressed despite the price.

A must have condiment is the belacan cili and a squeeze of lime. It adds zing to the dipping chilli or to your soup if you so prefer.

I go there sometimes for lunch on a weekday. Parking is close to non existent and most people either double park (and keep an eye on your car) or look for parking at some nearby parking lots. The place is a residential area so there are a lot of cars around. If you plan to go, I will suggest that you head there early to avoid disappointment. Oh and its VERY HOT so dress down for comfort, but very worth it
I can’t tell you how to get there unfortunately. but I hope the Google map will help you.

Oh Paris! I love Fish Noodles!! Mum usually cooks this during weekends as it’s really easy and quick to make! I remember having the best Fish Noodle soup (with evaporated milk) at a small stall near the Newton MRT in Singapore and it’s been 11 years since I had a good bowl of this! Thank you so much for reviewing this and I am sure I will be dragging my parents (who aren’t very familiar with the roads in KL) out for this!

It may be a bit hard to find if you aren’t familiar with the roads but nothing that a good ol’ GPS and Google Maps can’t fix!
Good luck and I hope you enjoy this too
