New York New York Deli is a New York style restaurant I came upon in Centrepoint, Orchard Rd. Singapore. It was close to dinner time and we were exhausted from shopping :P

I think what really caught our eye was the fact that there was a Mix n Match Value Meal going for S$7.80++ where you get a choice of a main meal and a drink. For S$2 you can add on a selection of items. We had garlic bread and potato wedges.

There were 3 of us that day but when we looked at the other tables, we saw that food portions looked big. So we only ordered 2 Value Meals and we weren’t disappointed. Portions were indeed large!

We had the Grilled Chicken Chop with Spaghetti in Spicy Black Pepper Sauce.

The spaghetti was suitably spicy due to the black pepper sauce and the grilled chicken chop served with it. was a huge piece. This will be enough for 1 big eater or perfect to be shared between 2 small eaters. Guys will love it of course.

For the other Value Meal, we had the Crispy Fish with Spaghetti with Creamy Alfredo Mushroom sauce.

I had absolutely no complaints about this one! The fish is a little on the thin side, but the crispy crumbed dory fillet went well with the creamy alfredo mushroom sauce. The sauce was light so you don’t get so sick of it so quickly.

On an overall basis, I would go back and eat at New York New York Deli in Singapore because the portions make the meals value for money (especially if you share). I cannot quite remember the ala carte prices – certainly higher than value meal prices.

There are many outlets around Singapore. The one I went to was at Centrepoint on Orchard Rd.

Check out their website here. Apparently there’s one at 1 Utama too but since I rarely go to that part of town, I can’t compare. When I go, I will :)

I can’t believe they have the nerve to call this place New York New York Deli, and then further insult New York by claiming it to be a New York style restaurant. It’s far from that. The food is far from anything served in a New York Deli. It’s just more more bad attempt of trying to reproduce food other than what is generally served up on the local platter. It’s been my experience that they should stick to cooking their own local cuisine and not try to mask their local flavors into other regions cuisine–it just doesn’t work. We New Yorkers don’t make spaghetti with black pepper sauce…black pepper sauce is your cuisine styling, and as an Italian, I’ve never seen such watery alfredo sauce, and that’s also speaking from 7 years of living in Italy.

So, basically, what you have with the New York New York Deli in Singapore is another attempt at masking local cuisine under the guise of giving you something different–something from New York. Most American Franchises here in Singapore rate the same way—it’s more local spicy food or curried food sold to you under the franchised name.
