To me, the best food in the city are found not in the swanky restaurants but on the roadside, where the populace flock for lunch or dinner. One such place is this stall at Lorong Bandar Kuala Lumpur that purports to sell the best Nasi Briyani and Fried Chicken in KL.

Located in a small alleyway, this stall sells nasi briyani with a selection of dishes you can add onto your meal – nasi lauk style. The specialty is the nasi briyani and fried chicken of course.

The fried chicken is tasty and juicy and is pretty good. Pieces are quite large too. Just fried chicken with the briyani rice and some pickles costs RM5. That’s pretty decent all things considered.

You can opt to add on fried eggs, mutton, tofu or fish, or any of the dishes you see at the stall. Prices will vary from item to item and of course the more you take, the pricier it will be.

I’ve only eaten here once but if I have the time and inclination, I will be back.

I will advise you to go early because the lunch time crowds are huge and seating is very limited. Seating is makeshift by way of stools and a long makeshift table abutting the wall. You could takeaway of course. That’s what all the ready packed items you see are. Lots of people come to buy takeaway lunches by the dozens!

Parking is non existent. I parked at Kota Raya and walked to Lorong Bandar which is near Central Market and Bangkok Bank, off Lebuh Pasar Besar. I can’t direct you there unfortunately but try asking the shop owners as you go – they should be able to direct you :P If you are queasy about eating in a back alley, I’d suggest you skip this place altogether… but then you’d miss a good thing!
