I enjoy my Vietnamese food and when I ate at Pho Hoa for the first time a year ago, I knew I’d return. I did. Many times. And I never once blogged about it because I never brought my camera all those times! Food blogger = fail!
Anyway during a recent family outing, everything was remedied!
Pho Hoa Vietnamese Restaurant
I personally find the open concept of the restaurant a little warm. Perhaps the mall air conditioning just isn’t enough when there are lots of people and hot food around.
Since we were having Vietnamese food, the spring rolls are a must.
Vietnamese Spring Rolls - Top: Goi Cuon Bottom: Cha Gio
We had both Goi Cuon (fresh spring rolls) and Cha Gio (fried spring rolls). Both taste quite different. The fresh ones are made with rice paper and shrimp, vermicelli and vegetables and you dip it into a thicker sweet sauce. Priced at RM3.95/roll its pretty pricey.
The fried spring rolls were chicken with vermicelli and vegetables and you dip it into fish sauce. Priced at RM3.25/roll, I think its pricey too.
For mains, we had a selection of items to share.
We had Bun Tom Ga Nuong which was vermicelli, vegetables, prawns and grilled chicken in a bowl. You mix it all up with lashings of fish sauce, rather like a bi bim bap. This cost RM13.95.
There was of course Pho (pronounced “fur”). You can opt for different types depending on your tastes. I always go for T3 which is beef pho with everything in including tripe, brisket, tendons etc. Yummy! The soup is flavoursome although tending towards the salty and you must toss in all the fresh mint, bean sprouts and lime juice for best flavour. In a large group, we ordered a large bowl to share. Portions are pretty big anyway. I believe its RM18.55 for the large bowl.
I decided to also try the Banh Mi Pho Bo Kho (Beef and Carrot Stew served with bread) for a change (RM13.95). The stew was thick and pretty good although it wasn’t spectacular. I’m not sensitive to the smell of beef but I found the smell a little strong in this dish.
Top Left Clockwise: Chicken Vermicelli, Beef and Carrot Stew, Chendol Kem and Beef Pho
Finally, for dessert there was chendol kem (RM6.95), something my Dad was looking forward to until he tasted the ice cream and found that it was coconut ice cream. Its nice, but not something we enjoy as a family.
I will return. But next time it will just be for the pho. The rest is just so-so.

hi Paris!
nice blog on food!
recently i have tried this restaurant in Desa Parkcity. You should try their avocado coffee, very creamy and tasty. Noodles is so so. Their blended chili sauce with lemon grass is nice. Goes well with the noodles.
thanks for sharing this.
cheers,
lemon
@lemon: thanks for the rec! I don’t go to Desa Parkcity often – only recently figured out how to get there LOL Is it a Vietnamese restaurant too?
