When I was last at Iketeru it was not I who had the Iketeru MIGF set dinner haha… I knew I could never finish all of that! So I opted instead for something off the ala carte menu.
Prices at Iketeru Japanese restaurant tend towards being on the high side. If I get quality then its alright, I don’t mind paying
Also, we had a Hilton privilege card of a friend on us, so there was a discount of food prices yay!

I thought of having a sushi at first, but when I saw the number of people having teppanyaki, I wanted to have that too! Iketeru has a Teppanyaki counter right at the entrance and you can sit by the counter if you like.
The Teppanyaki menu I had was the Kaze Meat menu and cost RM210++ I thought it was a little pricey but what I did not know was that it was VERY substantial!
The menu starts with an appetizer sampler platter. There was some seaweed salad, salmon sushi, cheese baked shell, prawn and egg omelette. By this time, I sort of regretted choosing the set because I’m not a big eater and I was getting filled with just the starter!
Next came salad which was fresh greens and ponzu salad dressing. Yummy!
Next, came a sashimi platter – 2 slices each of fresh raw tuna, salmon and octopus. I’m not usually into tuna but this was fresh and tasty!
Next came some teppanyaki seafood platter. “Wait a minute!” I thought, “I thought I ordered the meat option!” Well it turns out that the meat option is a choice between beef or chicken and lamb. I’d opted for beef but the seafood is standard – oh! That makes is absolutely worth it!

The seafood platter was very generous – you get a large prawn, 2 large meaty scallops and 2 large pieces of salmon, all pan-fried on the teppanyaki grill. Oops! I was VERY full at this point.

By the time I got served my main course of teppanyaki beef steak with garlic fried rice, I was ready to throw in the towel. After tasting the dishes, I had it packed up to take away. I ate it the next day – mmmmm….

Dessert was vanilla ice cream with some diced fresh fruits. A little heavy – I’d prefer sorbet – but nice anyway.
All this for RM210++ which I thought was not too bad a deal for the quantity. If you aren’t a big eater, I might suggest that you share this set and order a sushi roll perhaps to add on. Otherwise, you’d be like me and and up taking away a portion of your dinner!

What a great amount of food ! I’m a big eater, but even I will have problem finishing all that. Everything looks great though. Iketeru is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in KL.
Well I was rather disappointed with Iketeru ( that was in 2006), as I did not the find the food there up to my expectation despite its being in a prime hotel..I find the jap rest at mandarin oriental serves better than this. But for chinese dim sum, this toh yuen rest at Hilton Sentral was fantastic..cheers
