After what was a successful Klang Valley Food Hunt 2009 that terminated at Mont Kiara, we wound our way back to Solaris Mont Kiara for lunch and for some reason ended up at Schokolart.

We’d been to Schololart previously but only for their desserts which, as you might have guessed, centers around Chocolate. Not being much of a fan of chocolate, its not a place I’d return to often.

That said, we were there for lunch that day, and for members, there was a Buy 1 Free 1 offer on Roesti which I believe is Swiss. Roesti is grated potato shaped into a pancake and panfried and usually contains sinful things like cheese and bacon bits. Yummy! :P

The Roesti with bacon bits was quite nice. But what we really liked was the mushroom sauce. It went very well with the Roesti. The Roesti is about the size of a personal pan pizza i.e. about 6 inches in diameter so just enough for 1 person.

The Roesti with Onion Rings was less robust in flavour.Still pretty decent overall but I prefer the more flavoursome Roesti with bacon.

I also had an Omelette set which was supposed to have turkey ham and spring onions in it and NO cheese. What it did contain was turkey ham and cheese with a sprinkling of onion. The warm croissant with garlic butter was nice, as was the salad but the omelette was just so-so.

We also ordered a sweet and sour sausage side dish to share. This is what turned up

The sausages were normal tasteless processed sausages – not gourmet sausages as we were expecting. It tasted like it was tossed in ketchup which was a great disappointment as far as I was concerned.

I can’t recall the prices of each dish but there were 4 of us and we paid about RM25 each – I felt it was all quite expensive for what is essentially quite normal tasting food. It would be helpful if they employed more waiters who can understand English – as it was, they got our orders wrong and could not give us the information for the monthly promotions etc. Outdated promotions were also left on the table which led to misunderstandings about what we were entitled to and what we weren’t.

I’m not likely to return to Schokolart, whether for dessert or for meals. Not willingly anyway.

Schokolart is Halal and is located opposite Tenji Japanese Restaurant just up the escalators from Cold Storage at Solaris Mont Kiara.

Yeah, agreed with you. The food wasn’t all that great that day.
