I enjoy eating at Little Taiwan at Midvalley Megamall. So when I saw this green colored Little Taiwan at 1 Utama I did a double take. It was called Papa Beef Mama Chop Little Taiwan and is the Halal counterpart to the non-Halal Little Taiwan restaurant! How quaint!

Papa Beef Mama Chop Little Taiwan serves Taiwanese food using halal ingredients so no pork here only chicken and beef. So out of curiousity I had to try it to see how it fared.
I had a braised chicken served over rice. Its a small bowl of rice served with braised mince chicken served with half a hardboiled braised egg. I love this at Babu Taiwan Restaurant which is non-halal.

At Little Taiwan I was disappointed. The braised meat was salty and they had poured too much gravy over the rice. Honestly I don’t quite mind it as i like lots of gravy on my rice but it does look unappetizing.
My lunch buddy #1 was not happy with his meal. He ordered Braised Beef with Rice. The way it was served was truly very unappetizing. The few beef slices were on one side of the plate and on the other was some kimchi or vegetables – we couldn’t tell.
Sauce was all over the rice soaking it – some like it, some don’t but it looked awful. They should have served it over the rice in a bowl not the way they did.
Ultimately, it tasted ok, but presentation killed the appetite.
Lunch buddy #2 ordered the Chicken Chop noodle. The fried chicken chop was ok as was the noodle. It was quite average both in taste and in presentation.

As we had lunch sets, there was complimentary Jasmine Tea or Red Tea. It was sweet and bland and overall nothing we finished.

On an overall basis, I probably will not return to the Little Taiwan (Papa Beef Mama Chop) at One Utama. The food was just too mediocre and presentation of food unappetizing. I suppose it offers Muslims a Halal option to Pseudo-Taiwanese food. However, its nothing quite like the real thing.
Little Taiwan Papa Beef Mama Chop is at the Lower Ground One Utama Shopping Center. I cannot remember the prices but lunch sets ranged between RM12-18.

why the presentation totally eeeky? i had some chicken chop at little taiwan in pavilion and it was quite good
@Xin: No idea – they probably thought it was enough to slap the food on the plate?
Did you go to a Halal or Non Halal one?
the one in pav is halal, but the one i had in mv was non halal. i found that the crispy chicken chop there is better tho. the beef rice i had in mv was only so so. the presentation was also abt the same as what u showed in the pic.
