Most people will know of Pun Chun Noodle Shop in Bidor, Perak. Many people take the trouble to turn off the highway to stop by this little town for a bowl of herbal duck drumstick soup noodles.

Well, if you are in the Klang Valley, you no longer have to make this trek up North. Just head to Kota Kemuning Shah Alam. I was there recently while in the area. I didn’t know that Pun Chun had a branch!

There are a few things on the menu. The most popular items at Pun Chun are the herbal duck noodles (arp tui meen) or the char siew wantan mee. The noodles are pretty good, I can’t deny. They are springy and do not have the lye smell most noodles do.
A bowl of herbal duck drumstick noodles is RM6.80 for a small bowl and RM7.80 for a large bowl. Very expensive! The only difference is in the amount of noodles in the bowl – the soup is standard sized.
I found that the soup had no taste. It was just salty. I remembered Pun Chun’s herbal duck drumstick soup as being thick, fragrant and tasty. This one just tasted salty. I was sorely disappointed.
I was at Pun Chun Noodle Shop in Bidor about 2 years ago. The soup there tastes the same too then. Thin, oily, salty and tasteless.
The place was still quite crowded at 1+pm so I guess not everyone is as fussy as I am!
