Economy Rice Nasi Lemak @ Jalan Peel Kuala Lumpur

Some evenings when all I want is a quick meal at night I sometimes head to Peel Road or Jalan Peel. The stalls here opposite Carrefour have a great selection of quick street food that just hits the spot. One such stall is the Nasi Lemak stall.

Nasi Lemak @ Peel Road

This stall, located roughly in the middle of the row of hawker stalls does a roaring business. They open at about 5.30pm and by 8pm you might see some items already sold out. What they sell is nasi lemak.

They also have normal white rice. The toppings available are quite standard and include fried chicken, curry/rendang chicken, chicken in soy sauce, slices of luncheon meat, potatoes, fried egg, asam fish etc. Vegetables tend to be rather scanty – usually only 3 selections. Its not a lot of choice but they make up for it in taste.

Nasi Lemak Jalan Peel

This was a meal I took one evening – white rice with 1 curry chicken thigh and long beans. You get the standard nasi lemak topping of half a hardboiled egg, fried ikan bilis and sambal included. It cost RM4.50.

Here’s another dish – fried chicken and cabbage with standard nasi lemak topping – also RM4.50.

I find their prices pretty reasonable which might explain the huge crowd of people at the stall every night. The stall next door sells economy rice with a greater selection of food and you hardly see anyone at it. Its really weird how things work. But there you go.

I’ve eaten the nasi lemak twice. Not bad I would say. I just went to eat last week. Hahaha…

In the restaurant at the corner, there’s steam fish head. Very nice, many people eats there, Chinese, Indian and Muslims.
