Ngau Kee Beef Noodles at Tengkat Tong Shin Kuala Lumpur

I know of 4 decently tasty beef noodles stalls in Kuala Lumpur and have eaten at all 4. They each have their own distinctive tastes and flavour and each stall has its own patrons. I have previously written of Shin Kee Beef Noodles at Petaling Street.  Today, I’ll feature Ngau Kee Beef Noodles at Tengkat Tong Shin and I’ll feature the other 2 another day.

This is the dry style of beef noodles sold at Ngau Kee. Noodles are blanched and then minced beef is ladled over the noodles, which you mix up yourself. The mince doesn’t look all that good, but it does taste good!

The noodles are served with a bowl of soup with your choice of beef accompaniments. The soup is clear and strongly flavoured with beef broth. I usually go for the mixed version and you’ll get some beef brisket, beef slices, beef tripe and beef balls. You can opt for all or any of the accompaniments depending on your taste…. and how well you handle innards ;)

Ngau Kee

What I particularly like at Ngau Kee Beef Noodles is their chilli sauce. A clay pot of chilli sauce is placed on each table for you to ladle out as you wish. The sauce is by turns sour and spicy and goes very nicely with the noodles and beef.

A regular size bowl of noodles is RM5 while the large noodle is RM6. The only difference is in the amount of noodles you get – the soup and beef bits remain the same. I did not like that. Other places will increase the noodles and the contents of the soup.

Ngau Kee

The price has remained this way for a while now. When it was first raised, it seemed expensive but now that everyone else is selling noodles at RM4.00 and up, its become decently priced.

Ngau Kee beef noodles is situated at the top end of Tengkat Tong Shin near the Comfort Inn Hotel. Parking is horrendous – there’s hardly any to be found. So, if you are coming from Jalan Bukit Bintang, park at the paid car park next to the hotel on your left.

Always get very thristy after eating there so stopped going for years. Hmm maybe it’s time for a revisit to ‘test’ again.
