Ever since discovering Babu Taiwan Restaurant in Desa Sri Hartamas, I’ve been back a few times always with satisfying results. The restaurant looks quite nondescript from the outside and is set in a quieter part of the night spot.

Babu Taiwan Restaurant Desa Sri Hartamas

Being a specialist in Taiwan cuisine, the food is slightly different from the Chinese food you may be used to and this restaurant is definitely non-halal!

Apart from the Taiwan Beef Noodle (RM12) (see top right corner of picture above) which is a must try for me. The soup is clear not thick and has a strong beefy flavour besides being slightly spicy. The following dishes also get the thumbs up:-

Chilled Tofu with Sweet sauce, bonito flakes and century egg (RM8)

Chilled Tofu

The sauce is quite unique being salty and sweet at the same time and the mixture of bonito flakes and century egg blends well with the chilled tofu.

Fried Salted Chicken pieces (RM12)

Fried Salted Chicken

This is a typical Taiwan street food snack. The chicken pieces are coated with a crispy batter and deep fried then salted. It is very similar to the XXL Chicken at Shihlin Street Snacks but I prefer this one.

Noodles with Minced Braised Pork and Egg (RM6.50)

Noodles with braised minced pork

A firm favourite of mine. The noodles are served dry in a small bowl with minced braised pork and egg. It is small in size but filling on the tummy. The mince pork is tasty and the portion is just right for one.

I also like the Noodles with Fried Pork Chop (picture on top left corner of collage) where the noodles come in a deep metal dish and the fried pork chop is served separately.

Babu is situated near the open air paid parking lot at Desa Sri Hartamas (behind the KK mini market). You won’t miss the bright green sign and unique name of the shop.

I like this place too. Haven’t eaten there in a while!
Another Taiwanese place that’s excellent is Foong Lye in The Gardens. There’s also one in Hartamas-have you tried that out? Yumm!!!

The beef noodle is to die for. I love the soy sauce egg. Always tasty. I can eat those with plain rice. Lots of rice.

@mimid3vils: I don’t have much experience but this is yummy

@Monstrp: Yay! Lets go have a makan one day! I tried Foong Lye. Found it overpriced and uncomfortable. Perhaps I should try the Hartamas one.

@Andie: Yeah delicious sauces always cause me to over eat my rice too!
