Singapore Mee Pok Teo Chew Mee

I come from a small town that is predominantly of the Teo Chew dialect group. One of my favourite hawker meals is Teo Chew Mee or dried noodles. Sometimes, its known as “kon law mee” but I just call it Teo Chew Mee. Its impossible to get good dried noodles of this sort in Kuala Lumpur, because in KL, there is no concept of adding in chilli or sambal into the dried noodle mix. This is essential to bring out the taste and flavour of the dish.

I had some good Teo Chew Mee in Singapore the last time I went. It was in a food court, but its quite predominant anywhere you find hawker style food. My noodles of choice is “mee pok” which is the broad flat noodles, rather like fettucine. This style of noodle soaks up the sauce better and coats itself well with the chilli or sambal.
It is usually served with sliced and minced pork, fish balls and fish cake with a sprinkling of vegetables. Nothing beats the one I have at home, but this one comes a close second.
Does anyone know where I can get good teo chew mee pok in Kuala Lumpur?

I love mee pok.. it’s a must-have each time I go home. Hometown is predominantly Teochew ah? I always thought Hokkien. Kekekeke.
