If you are in the Petaling Street or Chinatown area during the day and longing for a snack, you have a choice of some yummy fried sweet potato balls or curry puffs. Both stalls are located right next to each other and seem to operate on a symbiotic relationship.

You can tell they are popular, as they were frying curry puffs non stop with lots more being made. They also only sell curry puffs and nothing else!

Curry Puffs are like a local version of samosas. A fried shortcrust pastry shell wraps a delicious filling of curried potatoes and sometimes chicken and egg too. Its terribly unhealthy due to the deep frying process, but they are oh so yummy!

Here’s a picture of one I broke into half to show the inside. The curry puffs from this stall in Petaling Street was chock-full of potato and chicken meat filling. There was even a quarter of an egg in there.

However, taste wise, I prefer the curry puffs from Brickfields. The curry puff in Petaling Street was too spicy and had too strong a curry taste. Whilst I do like my food spicy, I’d like to be able to enjoy it without having the spiciness burn up my tongue too! Unfortunately I cannot remember the cost but it was probably below RM1 each?
