Lovely English Crisps!

I love English crisps. Its a taste I acquired from years of study there and I am truly partial to English brands of crisps. Somehow the taste and texture are different from the American ones, and the flavours! Who’d ever thought that Prawn Cocktail would make it as a flavour for potato crisps? But it does exist… in the UK.

I recently picked up a pack of crisps from Marks & Spencer. They come in a pack of 6 packets of 25g foil packs which is just nice for a quick snack. They are thick cut crinkle cut crisps and really very good! I also got mine discounted which of course, was better!

Take a look at the back of the pack though:-

I love that they not only provide the nutritional information (don’t kid us, there isn’t that much nutrition in one of these things!) but they even tell you that it contains milk for those who are lactose intolerant, it tells you that its suitable for vegetarians and that the packaging is not recyclable! It also tells you that although its labeled Reduced Fat, all it is, is that it contains less fat that the regular crinkle cut crisps.

I  love all that information. It makes it look so healthy and informative. I think we are just starting to label our foods here with the nutritional values. We have a long way more to go! :)

I miss my salt and vinegar crisps back in the UK. I’d have a Coke, a Coronation Chicken sandwich, and a packet of crisps to finish off the lunch :P
