This is the knife set in question.
The Henckels Five Star 7 piece knife set with bamboo block.
This is what it contains:
* Paring Knife 10cm
* Utility Knife 13cm
* Slicing Knife 15cm
* Chef’s Knife 20cm
* Bread Knife 20cm, Sharpening Steel, Bamboo Block
My questions are: Is it worth buying at RM690? Has anyone owned this set? What are your thoughts?
On the other hand, has anyone owned the Henckels Santoku knife and how do you like it?
Thanks for any thoughts!

YES! We own a set of Henckel knives, I think our series is the 7pcs Professional S. We bought them over a year ago, spent quite a bit on them but we never regretted it. Trust me.
These knives are beautifully weighted and when you hold them in your hand, they sit just so. They are very sharp and great for cutting those delicate thin slices of lime for your gin and tonics.
If you can, get those knives. Make sure your logo is the twin man, this means they are made in Germany and have a lifetime guarantee. If your logo has a single man, it’s made in China and has no lifetime guarantee. Also, ask if you can get a freebie like the knife sharpener. The sharpening steel in the block is not exactly user-friendly. Or ask for some kitchen scissors as your block does not have one.
Brilliant knives. You can come test-drive at my place if you like.
I used the Henckel knives too, but I doubt mine is the 7pc set, because I don’t have the bread knife and knife block. But yeah, great ones they are…
