Seremban Dry Beef Noodles in Section 17 PJ

I have been having a hankering to eat the dry style beef noodles that you get in Seremban. Although it is so famous, I haven’t come across anyone selling it here in KL. So, when I heard of a stall selling the Seremban style dry beef noodles in PJ, I just had to go and try it out.

This is the dry beef noodle in question. The noodles are different from normal yellow noodles. They are rather like the thick rice noodles that is sometimes used in Laksa. The ingredients consist of sliced beef, beef tripe, beef balls, some preserved vegetables (kiam chye) and peanuts. What makes this dish special however, is the sauce. When done properly, the sauce, made with beef broth is thick, fragrant and tasty.

beef-noodles3I’m not familiar with PJ, so I thought this stall located within a coffee shop, is hard to find. If you live in PJ then you would probably find it quite easily. The owner told us that he might be moving soon so call him (012-303 0626 - Julian Cheng) before you go to avoid disappointment.

The thing is, I found the noodles underwhelming. The portion was generous but the sauce lacked fragrance and taste in general. It was nothing like the one I like in the Seremban market. It is unfortunate really, because I was hoping to fulfil my craving here in KL! The soup was too salty though and the noodles were too wet. Overall, I was disappointed.

If you want to try something new then it is worth eating, but not if you already know what the dry beef noodles in Seremban taste like and want to fulfill a craving. Oh and to top it all of, one bowl costs RM6.50. Way too expensive in my view for hawker fare of pretty mediocre standard. I don’t think I’ll be visiting again.

Here’s the map to the coffeeshop. Please click to enlarge.

Never been yet but with this review from you, guess no hurry then.

Nothing beats the one at Seremban’s big market.
