Chinese New Year cookies from Ikea

You bought your Chinese New Year cookies from Ikea?!

Yes I did, to try.

I was in Ikea shopping for pussy willows and saw that Ikea too had jumped onto the Chinese New Year bandwagon and were selling cookies. Why I decided to take the plunge was because I saw the cookies were from Backofen which I recalled as being some upscale bakery somewhere in Hartamas or something.

There were Dragon cookies, Love letters (or Kuih Kapit), Arrowroot chips (or Nga Ku chips) and Pineapple Tarts for only RM13.80 a container. Usually, these cookies would cost anywhere from RM18 to RM25 outside.

I tried the following:-

All in all, I’d say you are getting some decent cookies for Chinese New Year at a very decent price. If you are at a loss as to where to get your cookies or don’t want to pay a lot, head on over to Ikea. You’d be surprised at what you can find there!

The cookies are placed just before the checkout and by the vases/plants.
