When I last ran out of cooking oil, I picked this one by Naturel up at the supermarket. I used the Naturel blend one, which is a blend of sunflower and canola oil, because I’d read that these 2 oils were healthier.
I have had no complaints save for one thing. This Naturel Blend oil cannot be used for frying stuff. I used it for shallow frying fish and once I was done, I found that the oil had stuck itself to the wok in a really sticky mess. It was hell to scrub out and since I use a stainless steel wok, I can’t use a scouring pad or wire scrub on it.
Initially I thought it was because my fire was too hot. But later, I realised it must be the oil, because I remembered that sunflower and canola oil have lower heating temperatures, like olive oil. So, they heat up and burn faster and make frying food a pain.
So, whilst this oil is good for stir frying and quick frying, I’d have to stick to peanut oil or palm oil for frying. On the plus side, I end up eating less fried foods!
