McDonalds Prosperity Burger : Lovin’ it?

by Pink Parisian on January 16, 2008

Better late than never!

Believe it or not, this is the first time I’ve eaten a McDonald’s Properity Burger! This is a creation from McDonald’s timed perfectly for launch before the Chinese New Year every year. It then disappears from the regular menu until the following January. That might be why it is so popular. Absence makes the heart grow fonder… and time makes people forget the taste.

McDonalds Prosperity Burger

But that is being unnecessarily cruel. I shall not foist my opinions of McDonalds on anyone, save to say that I never eat McDonalds if given a choice. I usually go to Burger King for my burgers and my next burger trip will be to Carl’s Jr. But I digress… The Prosperity Burger set comes with a beef burger in a long sesame seed bun, curly fries and a green tea drink. You can substitute the drink if you like. I tried it for taste.

Prosperity Burger

To my surprise, the burger patty was quite large on this one. The beef patty is dipped liberally in black pepper sauce which makes for a spicy meal indeed! It does get a little messy trying to eat it, but I guess that’s all part of the experience. Overall, I’d say the burger wasn’t too bad.

The fries were shaped in a novelty manner, but still tastes like fries… only crispier, which is how I like it. The green tea drink is too sweet and too fragrant and altogether too artificial. If I eat this again (not likely) I’d get the drink changed to something else… I hope they let us have orange juice!

McDonalds Ang Pow packet

And with every Large Prosperity Meal you are entitled to a pack of McDonald’s Ang Pow packets! The novelty of having an ang pow packet from McD made me beg for these. They let me have it even though I only ordered a regular meal :) The regular meal costs RM9.88 ++ Pretty expensive but worth the experience.

Will I be like many and hop along to a McDonald’s next January for their Prosperity Burger? I honestly do not think so. Once is quite enough for me! How about you? Are you lovin’ it?
