I prefer Merlot wines

Its the end of the year and with it comes the festivities and the imbibing of wine and all manner of alcoholic drinks. We are having a family barbeque near New Year’s and my uncle has promised to bring a supersized bottle of red wine as his contribution to the festivities.
I’m hoping its a bottle of merlot because that is the only wine I really enjoy drinking. I’ve found that merlot tends to be slightly sweeter than the other types of wine, like cabernet sauvingon which is dry and sappy in my mind. For white, I prefer chardonnay because its easier to drink. The only problem with having a white wine is that it has to be kept chilled all the time or it becomes hard to drink.
To everyone who is going for Christmas and New Years parties this time of year, do stay safe and don’t drink and drive!
