From new-fangled Japanese biscuits to old-school biscuits!
Unlike ParisB who’s a great cook and cooks a lot at home, PinkE usually has to resort to eating out most days as she’s a terrible and lazy cook! On one of my dinners out, I spied this old-fashioned bicycle coming up, riden by an old man who looked about as old as his bicycle! While the dinner tables watched on in amusement, he opened the blue drawer and took out a tray filled with old-fashioned biscuits.
He then walked from table to table, hawking them. Initially we said no when he came to our table despite his persuading that these were the last few packets. However, after a while, we noticed lots of people buying from him and they seemed to be pretty familiar with him as they chatted to him in old-school, high-flown Hokkien. That got Bro and I pretty intrigued and we ended up buying a pack from him. It was RM2.50 for 5 pieces filled with tau-sar (sweetened green bean) similar to those from the famous Penang Him Heang.
Mom who normally loves these sort of old-school biscuits, didn’t really like this one though. She said the pastry was a bit too soft and the filling too sweet. Pity though, I did like how old-fashioned it looked…it reminded me of my growing-up years in my small town!
Finally, one last shot of the bicycle, just because it’s so quaint! I’ve never seen that interesting blue storage box before, have you?

I like old-fashioned biscuits as well! Especially those freshly baked!
