I bought a Le Creuset lookalike pot!

I went to Ikea last week to check out their sale.

Believe it or not, I’d never been there during their sale! Anyway, while I was there, my eye fell on the Senior range of cast iron pots and pans. I’d been eyeing this line for a while, simply because I’d always wanted a cast-iron pot, specifically from Le Creuset, but I can’t afford a Le Creuset!

This little pot by Le Creuset costs over RM1000 here so its in the “look-but-cannot-buy” category. I guess I’m not chef material yet.

When I was last at Ikea, I saw this Le Creuset lookalike set and immediately fell in love with it:

The Senior casserole pot (the bottom one) that can hold 5 litres cost RM235 so I passed on it for a long time. However, during the sale, the price was slashed to RM199. The smaller one which usually retails for RM185 was now something like RM135.

I eventually settled on the 5 l pot because I felt it would be more versatile. However, I’m still tempted by the 3 l pot, so I might go back and get it some day. I suspect this colour has been discontinued because the regular priced items in this line are in a lime green which did not appeal to me at all.

If you are like me and want a Le Creuset, but are balking at the price, check out the ones at Ikea. The sale runs till 19 August 2007. At least it makes me feel a little chef-like in the kitchen, plus it gives a lovely splotch of colour amongst the usual stainless steel pots and pans.
